If the horse can be salvaged for some use. . . . Those horses, in my opinion, shouldn't be put down. It's not that we're opposed to putting an animal down. It's the criteria that's used. There are circumstances where it's just not right. |
That's got to be in the top one-half to 1 percent of all racehorses. You're lucky if a horse runs 15 to 20 races. |

You can't afford to take every horse that you have ever bred and raced. There's no way that you can take care of every single horse. |
