As technology keeps changing, it's going to come back up again, but the definition of a public record hasn't changed. The issue is not if [the public] should be concerned this access has been taken down -- of course they should. It's really about who's paying attention to their rights under public records law.

Court records and proceedings belong to the public and access is indispensable not only in ensuring the integrity of the judicial process, but is fundamental in any democratic society.

It may not be a technical violation, but there's something called the spirit and intent of Florida's open records laws. I don't think voters approved the state's Sunshine laws thought it was OK for the governor and legislators to meet behind closed doors possibly to give away the store.

It seems like a colossal waste of resources to have a clerk sit there and look over my shoulder as I scroll through. While I'm glad they allow access, I think they need to come up with a better and more efficient way to allow access.

It shows a lack of respect for the public and their opportunity to see what is going on.

Sometimes, all it takes is to point out that even well-intentioned legislation has unforeseen consequences. We are very pleased.

The constitution gives us a right of access to the entire deliberative process. And if part of that deliberative process - the arguing of a point between two members - is on paper, we have less opportunity for access and oversight.

The law is violated every day.

The purpose of this audit was to test the public-records compliance for the public, not the media. We specifically didn't want people who were savvy with the law.
