Heath has done a really good job. He's only a sophomore and we've really thrown him into the fire. We have to rely on him heavily and this is a great game for him to pitch in. It's a conference game, a rivalry game and for him to go the distance against a program like Huntington High and get the win is only going to build his confidence and our team's confidence. |
I need to retract my statements and apologize to those two kids. That was one of the finest pitching performances I've seen all year long from both of those kids. They got ahead in the count and kept guys off base. It was fun to watch and I tip my hat off to both of them. |
It was something on one hand that you might regret, but every week is like that for us. As a coach you just want to come out of it with a winning record, but our kids want to come off the field every game with a win. |
Our kids are playing with a lot of confidence now, and I don't blame them. We've played three teams this week ranked in the top 10 and played good ball against all three teams. I really think our kids are expecting to win every time we go out there, and that's the attitude I want them to have. |
The only shame is we have Huntington next who we have to battle in the sectional. I'm sure we won't see their ace, and they're not going to see ours. |
We played well and showed up. We had 13 hits, which is probably more than we've had in the last three games combined. We got a good game from Heath and that's a lot on his shoulders as young as he is. |
