[The National Weather Service is] mandated to warn about hazardous events. We personally at the weather service contact media outlets and tell them about the dangers.

All the indicators are neutral right now, so our ability to forecast long-range is weak. But there are ways to look at it. If we look at this from a cyclical standpoint, we may be in a wetter pattern.

 And this happens every year.

And those threats are not very great.

I think it's a general rule of thumb ? the force of the water will not allow you to walk through if it is over your knees.

If you get caught in these with the volume of water draining down, they're so narrow there's no way you can get out. People die in these areas throughout the year - they're dangerous places with the rainfall that we're having.

It will be good for water supply, but it will also exacerbate the flood threat.

June was much cooler and wetter than normal. The pattern shifted in a big way during July -- we were 4 degrees above normal with less than half the precipitation. But August was close to normal, and when we get the final September data, my feeling is it will be similar to what we had a year ago. So again, that could mean a wetter year with more runoff. But again, that's only if you're looking at trends.

Last year we did have flooding in Cache Valley and Brigham City.

Right now our flood threat is ... dictated by what kind of snow pack is in the mountains.

Some areas east of Cedar Mountain are about 110 percent of normal now. To have that happen in one month is pretty abnormal.

The main source of inflow to the lake is the Bear River system.

The worst case scenario is if we continue to have cool, wet weather but then warm up dramatically in the second week of May or have a major rain event.

They are quite full and near capacity. The flood managers are trying to dump some of the water. The question is, if we have a larger rain event above these reservoirs, we could have a flood downstream that could cause damage.

They discussed the situation and both concluded that the timing of the move is to the benefit of the team. They decided another voice needed to be heard in the locker room.
