Against Arkansas State, it was the first time our players stepped on the playing field to competitively play our new system. I'm pleased with the way the players adjusted to playing the different positions. Our defense was solid and the offense created lots of scoring opportunities. |
Brittany is one of the top players to come out of Memphis this year. She comes into our program with great size and is a very skillful and technical player. Not too often do you find a player with that type of mixture and ability. |
Eliza has a ton of potential. She is still a little raw but is very fast and athletic. Eliza is a player who you like more and more each time you see her. She is someone we always knew had the ability, but she will continue to improve. I believe the sky is the limit for her. She's an athlete that has split time between track and soccer, and when she gets the chance to have all the eggs in one basket at Memphis, she will continue to excel. |
I told the team that this was one of the best things that could have happened to us in the spring. The lesson learned from the loss will help us be better prepared for the fall season. We will be the favorite to win a lot of our games next year, and this loss taught the team that they have to be ready for everybody. |
I'm pleased with our performance on the weekend. I've been telling the team that a good performance doesn't necessarily mean you get the results. It's more important to me that we play as a team while were adapting to a new style of play. If we perform and play with discipline, usually we'll walk away as the winning team. I can honestly say that everybody played well this weekend. |
It was great to play a well-respected program like Missouri. We didn't get the win, but we walked away from the game with a positive experience and learned some areas we need to work on. |
It's always a battle with Ole Miss. Whether it's a fall or spring game, it's always a great rivalry. I'm pleased to get the result we had from a quality program that had a lot of success last season. |
Jocelyn is a very versatile player who can play any position for us on the field. She is a technically strong player who will suite our team best in the midfield. But she gives us the option to play her in multiple positions. |
Last year our recruiting class ranked 27th nationally, and this year we looked to continue the tradition. We have a strong group coming in for the 2006 season, and they will have the opportunity to compete and help bolster our lineup. |
Laura brings lots of experience as a National Pool ODP player that adds a tremendous bonus to our team. She is a strong technical player who reads the game very well. We feel very fortunate to have her as a part of our team. |
Leslie will add dept up front to our lineup. She has the ability to make an immediate impact and will push the other forwards for playing time. She has a knack for finding the goal and is deceptively quick. |
Missouri began the game with high pressure and it took us a moment to settle down. We were caught a little of guard in the beginning of the game. Missouri played with strong discipline as individuals and as a team, but it was still an evenly played game. Despite not having our best performance, we were always in the game and had several chances to pick up the victory. |
Our focus is not necessarily on scoring but on making progress toward what we're trying to accomplish. Although we didn't score, I'm pleased with our performance. I'd rather have us play well and see no results than to have us play poorly and get the result. |
Our recruiting class this year is takings us in the right direction. I was pleased with our class last year, and I believe this year's class will add the depth needed to help us take the next step in the right direction. We feel we have everything in place to compete in the Conference USA championship and working toward receiving a spot in the NCAA Tournament. |
Overall, I'm pleased with what we have accomplished this spring. The team worked hard adjusting to a new style of play. They overcame their initial frustrations and gained a strong belief in our new system. |
