He's kind of a Mike Vick type quarterback in that he has great arm strength and running ability. He's so fast and has such a good arm, it's tough to defend him. You have to watch for the option, the shotgun and his running ability. |
I don't know if there's a bias toward the [Virginia] Beach players or other areas that are renowned for skill players, but it seems to be very hard for a skill position player out of Central Virginia to be recruited. I don't understand it, really. The linemen seem to be fine but not the skill players. |
Mark [Jordan] has a good feel for open spaces and reading defenses. He's courageous in standing in the pocket against the rush and he's also a tall kid, which allows him to see over the linemen and make excellent reads. It also appears Mark is a student of the game, one who's making the most of their system. |
Mark is very fortunate in having a bright young mind in Hunter Price guiding him. But to use that system, you have to have a quarterback that's able to throw the ball. Mark is that guy. He's very talented. |
Mike takes a lot of pride in his ball handling with the play-action. He had a chance to learn from a very good ball handler in Joe Sanford. |
We made a concerted effort to not put Mike in a situation where, conceivably, he could get blitzed. |
We run eight men in the box. That's the defense we run now. We tried to be more aggressive with it tonight. |
