I do not see that rationale behind people having more guns. Whenever there are more guns around, there are more opportunities for irrational people to make irrational decisions. |
It simply began out of the feeling that something needed to be done. We didn't feel that she was getting a fair shake, and wanted to make sure that the administration knew that students were paying attention to what was going on. |
Obviously you can't know what the administration is thinking. But we have raised the awareness on campus and have informed a lot of students about it. I guess my feeling is that if we can just raise the awareness among the student body and we can point that out to those making the decisions, then we're on the right path. |
The reason I got involved is because I have known Dr. Owens for the past year or so. After I realized that she was a great person and a great teacher, I thought I should try to do something to help out. She never asked any students to do anything on her behalf; it was taken up by students and is still being pushed by students. |
The whole sit-in was organized in less than three days. We knew that the final decision was going to be made soon, so we had to act quickly if we wanted our voices to be heard. |
