It's a great way to start a game. I wish we could start that way every game.

It was nice to see Bobby Stevens get his hands through the ball finally.

That's a nice thing to have. But to expect that is a little unrealistic. If you look at those seven-run innings, we got some help from our opponents. So if they want to continue that, we'll take it.

There is a timing mechanism involved. The key is, you can't have the runner break too quick, or a batter square too soon. Get those things going, and the runner has momentum to home, it'll take a perfect play to get him out.

I thought today was a very big baseball game for our team. I told them yesterday that we haven't done anything at all to slow Kent State down and they've had their way with us. I thought it was important to be competitive.

I wish I'd known how that was happening so I could bottle it.

Nick, Trevor and Brian will need to get ahead in the count and work the zone.

After this weekend you will start to see some separation in the standings.

We anticipate this game will be a definite battle. We never quite recovered from our West Coast trip that put us behind the proverbial eight ball. We want to win bad to get back to .500.

Brian Toner had a great day today. Brian Smith got the barrel through the ball, Minogue got a couple hits, and we needed everyone of them today. It was a hitters day, tough for the pitchers to establish their breaking balls.

It is important to get over .500 now and keep our momentum going forward. We've got a big weekend with Eastern Michigan and we need to go in thinking we need to gain ground on the second place team in our division.

We're doing a better job with our pitch selection. We were a little slow in developing today, but the second time through the lineup, we made good adjustments on the guy, stayed back and drove the ball the other way.

I think all of our players and coaches are a little salty after this past weekend. We don't think we played up to our expectations and would like to get back out and get on the winning track.

We need to get out there and play. We need to work in guys that haven't been getting consistent at bats and at the same time get ready for the MAC weekend series.

We had great hitting approaches today.
