[Ryan] never gets to swim that event, and we felt like he had a good shot at breaking Anthony's school record. He probably will in two weeks when we're shaved and rested. But Anthony was still a quality athlete. |
[The Volunteers] are always really good at home, and they always race us tough. It is a pretty heated rivalry. We can't take them lightly. |
I don't plan on being disappointed. We plan on being really good, and obviously we plan on winning. |
I think it's a pretty good reflection of his training. To come off a big team meet like the NCAA championships and 10 days later travel to the other side of the world and swim this well is incredible. |
I think it's important for people who didn't race well last week to do better this week. |
I think what makes it's a big accomplishment because we're not hiding him. He is racing different events and doing a full training schedule all the time. It's not by design; he just does not like to lose. That type of streak would be like a quarterback not throwing an interception for three seasons. |
I was really proud of the way they swam this evening. We had a very average morning and it hurt us a little in the team scores. The ones that did get the chance to come back tonight did much better, had better attitudes and just raced better than this morning. |
I'm really proud of Caroline. With as much illness as she's had to come through this season, she did a really great job of standing up and racing. |
I'm really proud of these girls. With all of the adversity we've had to fight through this season and during this meet, they were outstanding. |
It's going to be in that type of ballpark. |
Ryan is certainly the best swimmer we've ever had at the University of Florida. |
Ryan is certainly the best swimmer we've ever had at the University of Florida. He holds the school record in both butterfly events, both individual medleys, both of the backstrokes. He's got the freestyle. He's on every relay and could probably hold a few more of our records. He just hasn't had a chance to swim the events. |
Ryan is probably the hardest worker we've had the pleasure of coaching at the University of Florida. He listens to instruction well and isn't afraid of taking on a challenge. The most amazing (thing) is that he is the same beach boy as he was when he first came in. Success has not gone to his head one bit. |
That was a good way to end things. [Today] is our better day because we have some of our better people swimming. |
The guy works hard, does what you ask him to do and he is committed every day. It's not a surprise that these things happen. He has trained with this in mind all year, so it's hard not to be ready to go. |
