I think it will pass next week. It fell apart when the Lt. Governor adjourned the senate because they did not have a quorum. |
I think probably reports 2007 will be alright. It is a stout budget, but in 2008 we're going to have to slow that increased growth down a little bit. Maybe cut it back to half of what they did this year or maybe even more. But with this pace going, that's not too bad. The predictions are the [fiscal year] 2008 won't be this good a year. Not a bad, but won't be this year. |
Obviously this is a good budget for us, an increase of 19 percent across the board. |
This year it is real important for in our case, about a 19 percent increase. In bad years it is important to let legislators know students in higher education and South Alabama are treated fairly. |
When we're funded better and you can look at this historically, tuition is not increased or it is increased at a lesser level. So it is really important that the state continue to maintain their share so we can continue to keep to the tuition down so that every body has access. Federal-grants-in-aid hasn't kept up. So if we want to continue to make college affordable, this is the type of year we need to have. |
