Most modern candies, however, derive their licorice flavoring from the anise herb rather than an extract from the licorice root itself. Consequently, eating licorice-flavored candy is probably not a means of cavity prevention. I look forward to seeing more research done on these compounds that have shown to inhibit the chief cavity-causing bacterium. |
