From my first breath after finding out I had diabetes, my first question was, 'Will I still be able to play sports?' I made that a priority. |
I was really thirsty on the way to Portland. Finally, one of the flight attendants said to me, 'Son, there's none left ... you've drank all of the OJ on the plane.' I was going to the bathroom a lot, too, but I thought it was because I was drinking so much juice. |
Now that I think back, I was lucky to be 12 when I found out I had diabetes. I hear about babies 6 months old having it and I think to myself, 'What are they going to do? How are they going to handle it?' I was old enough to manage it in those days. |
