As disappointing as it is to lose, there was a positive, and it was the third period. We gave ourselves a chance to win, just came up a little short, but that's certainly the momentum we wanted to end this game with. |
At the same time, while I was hoping to get a term deal and didn't, there's are some positives with that, too. If I don't renegotiate with Buffalo during the season, then I'll hit the open market. At the end of the tunnel is unrestricted free agency, and that's something every player looks forward to. That could be a very exciting time. |
Big hits like that don't come around too often. It's not easy or you'd see them every night. |
Come the trade deadline and I haven't renegotiated with Buffalo, absolutely I'll be thinking about it because in that situation I'll probably end up somewhere else. |
For a team that a lot of the so-called hockey experts had pegged to be among the two- or three-worst, the guys have a lot to be proud of. But we're not looking at records or stuff like that. We're focused right now on continuing this kind of play to carry over into the playoffs. |
Great memories for them. But we hope to leave them with a little bit of sour taste after playing this year. |
I came into this contract negotiation with a no-lose situation, |
I enjoy now more than ever turning on the TV at night and watching the other games. It's a much more exciting game. I certainly wish the calls wouldn't be so strict with the physical play, but we have made the adjustment. |
I have a lot of disrespect for the guy. |
I have no problem. We have great doctors. I have no problem sitting in for a few minutes while they do whatever they need to do. Guys go through it. It's part of the game. I would certainly like a straight nose. |
I think Brian did a great job. A big part of us winning like we did was because they were sidetracked with still thinking about that hit. If we can use that to our advantage, we will. |
I think everybody was. I think everybody around the league would like to drop a hit like that one. |
I think if you talk to the majority of the players in the league, he's our guy. . . . We didn't do it quite properly, and when we do, he'll be the guy for sure. |
I'll be having (doctors) shove a couple of tools up both nostrils and cracking the whole thing back into place. It's a couple of long, metal tools that go up your nostrils quite high and move it back into place. I have no problem. We have great doctors. I have no problem sitting in for a few minutes while they do whatever they need to do. Guys go through it. It's part of the game. I would certainly like a straight nose. |
I'm just going to concentrate on playing hockey, |
