We helped each other and there's a lot of emotions, so a half-point kind of feels like a disappointment, |
We tend to tighten up as a whole during the Ryder Cup. I think you can just take a look at the guys' faces in the locker room and on the bus. ... Everyone just looks a little bit more uptight during Ryder Cup week. |
We were 3 up through four, and he was just chirping all the way around, ... I didn't know him well enough to know that side of him. And then on the next hole, Ernie and Gary pressed. I'll never forget what Jack said. His next line was, 'Boys, step into my office.' I got the biggest kick out of him. |
When this course is firm and fast, the length is not an issue. |
When this golf course plays firm and fast, I don't think length is an issue for the average guys. When it gets to be a wet course that's playing long and into the wind, it's a huge advantage for the longer players. They're going to have a big distance advantage. On a course that's 7,450 [yards], that's a huge advantage. |
When this golf course plays firm and fast, I don't think that length is an issue for most of the field. When it gets wet and soft, I think it's a huge advantage for the longer players. They're not going to get to some of those tighter areas off the tee. They'll have a big distance advantage. We'll see how well it dries up and drains overnight. |
Whoever goes out there and fires the best score has the opportunity to win the golf tournament. I know that not only with Aaron there, but some good players at 11 under and 10 under, I have to play well. |
Winning golf tournaments is what's important to me. If I said that, even though I've had a decent career and 10 wins, you would probably think I was pretty darn arrogant. |
Winning two years in a row, pretty much being in control of this tournament most of the way, he's the guy to beat. |
Without a major storm blowing through, I haven't seen them much stronger. I wouldn't call this normal. |
You can look at it two ways. (Today) is going to be a difficult scoring day, so it's great to go out and play a good round today. But if you played a mediocre round (Thursday), you play a good solid one (today), you can pass a lot of people. |
You can make a lot of birdies, but there are a lot of disasters waiting to happen. |
You can take it high in the air and have it land really soft. The ball will stop easier on the green, instead of having it hit and roll off the back of the green, which is what happens with long irons. |
You can't say all that much. We've all been in that position, and I know personally I'd just kind of want to be left alone. Davis had a rough day and didn't shoot anywhere near the score he could have. He's not that far off. |
You get off the first day and you're even through six and you want to start trying to push. You have to let things happen. If you force it and try to make those things happen, I think that's when the course jumps up and bites you. |
