Simply put, we prefer that shock absorbers are used for shock absorbers ... not to be a spring assist or a jack or anything else. |
The cars passed postrace inspection, ... The shock absorbers themselves, after being tested and disassembled and everything, all of the parts and pieces were well within the confines of the rule book. However, the shock build -- the assembly of the parts and what the shock it intended to do -- it's not within the spirit and the intent of what our shock absorber rules surround. |

The spoiler itself was fabricated to circumvent the required angle that the spoiler is supposed to be raced at, |
The tire-leasing is not specifically designed to eliminate testing. It has the huge purpose of eliminating tire testing. I'm not talking about running a race track; I'm talking about taking 50 tires to an independent lab and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars testing. It's definitely designed to eliminate that. And quite frankly, we're only three weeks into that, but it's working pretty good. |
There could be some very subjective calls made. Hopefully, we don't have to make a call. |
There's a small part of it that's judgment calls, ... but I think in today's world, when penalties are issued, there's no judgment about it. It's black-and-white. |
violated the spirit of the rule itself. |
We are pleased that this phase of a complex, protracted, and emotionally charged investigation has been completed with the subject's arrest. |
We hold a lot of responsibility for policing the sport, but, at the same time, we have to give the competitors the benefit of the doubt if we can, so that's why that process is repeated. Honestly, another reason it's repeated is so we're sure of what we're seeing, not something goofy, not a mistake. |
We're aware of Chad's past penalties. Is it a topic of conversation as we meet about the penalty? Yeah, briefly, but it's a lot easier for us to address each penalty situation on its own, with its own merits, but along with that, it's not that much different in the world we live in: A first-time offense for somebody is a lot of the times treated a little softer than somebody that has a history. |
We've made a ton of progress with it over the winter and it's down to small changes now. We're doing a lot of work with the wing right now to test it out and see how it's going to work. It has been real positive. We will keep pressing on and in '07 it will race. |

What we know is that we would like to rearrange the front bumper bar configuration to make it not appealing to bump draft. At the same time, we have to maintain the integrity of the front end of the race cars for crash purposes. There's a lot of energy absorption in the front bumpers that we run on the cars here. |
What's happening right now is that ski manufacturers are attempting to provide a one-ski-does-it-all scenario. |
