We have made some changes which really amount to clarifications of existing policy. There has been some additional training.

The interviews with the staff and the review of the policies were found to be in compliance.

They came across this medical chart; they had a question about it; they requested that it be sent on for review, and there is a disagreement between the reviewer and the treating physician.

We are not aware of any hospital in the state of Iowa being terminated from participation in the Medicare program as a result of an EMTALA violation. I cannot tell you how many violations have been investigated. There have been very few, if any, terminations nationwide.

It is not unusual for a date for termination to be set as part of the process. What is unusual is for that to not be resolved and the hospital retains its eligibility to receive Medicare payments. It is extraordinarily rare that they actually go ahead and do that.
