Bill's my man. It's awesome having him here. |
get him going a little bit. |
He says that I would have passed in my sleep. I'm not sleeping anymore the rest of my life. |
He was the best baseball player in our county, ... He was the guy, a star baseball and basketball player and the quarterback on the football team. |
He's a player's manager. Certain kind of eye contact from Bill can mean a thousand different words from him. |
I don't know how we've done it, ... But I hope they don't figure it out. |
I don't really like the word 'cocky' and it's been used a lot with myself, ... But I'm not cocky. I'm confident. I feel like with a big name on the mound, as soon as I step into the batter's box, you're like, 'Oh great, I've got to face this guy,' or, 'Oh no, this guy throws hard.' If you think that, you're already out. Those guys on the mound are just as cocky or arrogant as anyone else. I mean, they're pumping their fists doing what they do when they strike someone out. But I think it's just magnetized by me because I'm just a rookie. |
I don't think anyone was worried about the past. I think that's why this team is becoming good. It's a clean slate every time you leave the ballpark. |
I don't think I'm a better outfielder now than I was two months ago, |
I don't think you can really look ahead right now in this organization, ... I don't want to look ahead, because I don't know what's going to happen. Because it's just obvious something is going to happen. I'm just looking forward to helping the team win this season and go out with a bang and have some good numbers on my resume when the season's over. |
I had good grades in school, ... I was an outdoorsman. I like the adventure and representing your country. I don't want to go to war, but I wouldn't have been scared. |
I think we've got a little swagger coming in here. We just showed them we can do it and it's not impossible with our team. We came in and we'll lay it all on the line and see how it pans out. |
I thought I was going to be down for the rest of the year, ... I really did. And maybe come up for September. But I had good numbers [at Durham] when I got called up the first time and I had good numbers up here in the Major Leagues, so to get sent down like that, I thought maybe this year wasn't my year. They had plans and other things going on. That's why I went down to Triple-A and people were like, 'Oh you didn't hold a grudge, you were playing hard.' And I just thought that's where my season was going to end. |
I was more surprised Bernie went on that one than Jason on the other one, |
I'll be satisfied with what I've got after the season is over. I don't really have numbers as far as goals. If I can play every day and stay healthy, the numbers will come. But my two main goals are playing every day and staying healthy. |
