For the children who are struggling academically, if we can keep them in school most of the summer, or keep them there and keep them involved, they tend not to regress or slide back during the summer. |
We (currently) offer quite a few enrichment and academic classes that parents would have to choose just one for their child to participate in. By having two four-week sessions, we shorten the sessions just a little bit, we offer a lot more opportunity. We offer kids (the opportunity) to take two of those classes and really be involved in school more during the summer. |
You have to catch them young. We start with the kids through high school health-career clubs, to grow our own health care professionals and shape their education more locally. |
