It's amazing how quickly he acclimated here, |
It's cost us. They had two power-play goals Tuesday and we haven't connected. |
It's just a difficult decision and I haven't set a day where I am going to make any formal announcement. I know that making the decision, though, is in the not-too-distant future. |
It's just a difficult decision. |
It's like the old TV show, Let's Make a Deal . You just never know what's behind the door. You don't know what's behind door No. 1 or door No. 2 or door No. 3. He always has the ability to say something, not only off the cuff but off the wall. |
It's not always going to be the most skilled guy, the most talented guy, that's going to put a team over the top. It's going to be those guys that, in the end, put their heart on their sleeve and do the grunt work. |
It's real sore right now. |
My biggest problem is I can only play one way. I really can't try to play the perimeter and use some level of skill because it's not part of my repertoire. If I can't be physical then I'll never be able to play again. I wasn't any worse for wear after the little bit of contact I had, which is good. |
Nobody shot the puck like Brett did. He transformed the way a generation of players shot the puck. He perfected the one-timer. It was transition in the game. He had great input into how guys would shoot the puck. |
Not only is it four years (since he played here) but it's another new team for him, ... He's just a member of the opposition and we have to play him accordingly. |
Obviously, I feel better than I have. It's a huge hurdle for me and I feel really good. By no means does it change anything that I stated earlier. I'm just taking it one day at a time. |
Personally, it's exciting. Every hurdle is another step closer to a full recovery. |
Physically and mentally my body hasn't felt this good in a long time. For me (the NHL lockout) was somewhat of a blessing in that I still had those concussion symptoms for a long time, post-playoffs. Although I would have tried skating in camp last year, I probably wouldn't have been ready to go. |
September at the earliest, that was the time frame (set) with the announcement back in February and that has not changed. The organization has been great giving me the ability to get better at the pace I wanted to have. If that means six months from now, as long as I have no regrets on how I tried to get myself in position to play, I can live with that. |
That stretch of time has gone by fast. You get back in the room and it feels like you haven't missed a beat. To be back among the guys is a lot of fun. |
