If we shoot the ball well, we go from good to pretty good. That's kind of been our achilles heel all year, is the offensive end. If we make shots, we are a pretty good basketball team. |
In the NBA, they would fine him. They don't have enough (money) for me to fine them. |
It ended up being tougher than I thought. |
It looked good when he let it go. |
It made a difference. But that's part of the game. |
It was one of those games you'd hate to see either team lose. It was a defensive battle. Keeping them off the boards was a major emphasis and we lost the game on an offensive rebound. |
It's been a very, very good defense. |
Not fouling is part of good defense. We needed more offense tonight. |
Paul has struggled against taller people at times throughout his career, including tonight. Size bothers him unless we can pull him out. ... We were not making shots, particularly early and now he's having to score over bigger people. They did an outstanding job. |
Southern Illinois is in the same boat a little bit. When you play defensive battles such as this, every point is at a premium, the game could go either way. I'm not so much happy that we won here, but that we won. |
That was my call. We could have flown. The best way would have been to charter, but we couldn't do that. |
Their post people just killed us all night long. |
There were two things we needed to do well coming into this game. Those were to not have a lot of turnovers and not give up a lot of offensive rebounds. And we give up 27 turnovers and 23 offensive rebounds. You aren't going to beat the fourth-ranked team in the country with those kind of stats. |
There's a young man on my team that got 23 rebounds tonight, and that's probably a big reason (for the win). It got to be where we shoot it, miss it, and Paul will get it back. |
They're worse than us - and we're bad. But they sure made the ones that counted tonight. |
