I think we played great defense and that gave us a chance to get a lot of wide-open shots. We got a lot of tough rebounds, a lot of long rebounds and that gave us a chance to get some easy buckets. When you can get the easy shots, everything else just begins to click. |
I think we stressed a lot that this was a big game for them to try and move up in the standings. And in all honesty, I keep thinking that we don't have it locked, and no matter what you always want to play well. I think that for 30 minutes of tonight's game we played well. |
I thought it was a great game. I thought we brought great energy. When we bring energy we can play with anyone, but the key is that we can't turn it on and off, we have to have it on all the time. |
I thought the shot at the buzzer was big for Katie. Not only for the team, but it gave her momentum like, 'Oh I can do that every time,' which, in the second half, I thought she did. |
I thought we had a great run where we took control of the game. I think there was a little bit of a let down when you have a lead at the half, but you have that sometimes. You always like to have a lot of shot attempts, and we hit the offensive boards really well, which is always good. |
I walked in the locker room and the girls said, 'We're 3-0 right now in the new season,' and that's our thing - we have three more games, we're taking care of business. We have goals that we're focusing on defensively and offensively, and the girls are really striving for that. I think it's narrowed in our focus a little bit. |
In the first five minutes of the game we looked great. Then it took a strange turn and none of us could really figure out how it happened. Their inside game really killed us. |
It was a feel-good game for everyone. |
It was a great experience and great for our players. It was loud the entire time, even when nothing was happening in the game. After the game our players came out and sat with them, joked around and signed autographs. Everyone who worked to put it together did a great job. |
It was a great team effort. We brought great energy and we played very unselfishly. Us holding them to 23 points in the first half was huge. |
It was one of those against-all-odds things. Not many people would have played, because there is a chance of hitting her head and having the stitches burst open, but Rachael said that she wanted to play. She's a senior so she values every game and her family came down from Canada to watch. It was a great night for them. |
It's a little strange, because other schools and even our men's team already know who they're facing, and we're still playing games. But it's been so long since we've played Maine or Hartford that we're really looking forward to it. We're not looking past these games at all. |
It's just one of those things in basketball. You wish you knew the answer and you just don't. We just came out flat. I think it was energy. I think games are won and lost by who has more energy, and I thought SBU came out with more of it. |
Katie leads by example and is very different from Rachael. Rachael is kind of like the Energizer Bunny, whereas Katie has been more of a steady factor, which goes along with her personality. Anything Katie does, Katie does well and she takes great pride in that. |
Maine has good size. They're big and that's what hurt us against New Hampshire. I don't want to say it's going to be a problem, but it's going to be an issue for us. |
