(A's pitching coach) Curt Young wanted to see how he felt. Then he'll pitch on our day off on March 15 up at the minor-league camp to keep on schedule. |
(Schilling) threw the ball very well for a span of four innings and kept them in the game. But our guy was pretty good. |
(Thomas) is not swinging the bat very well, so you can basically eliminate that. |
(Today) we're going to shoot all our bullets and try to win that game. We'll worry about the next day when we get there. |
(Witasick) could be big for us down the stretch. Who knows with Duchscherer's back. |
[But] that's kind of his role with this team, and he's handled it extremely well. He'd be getting a lot more playing time with some other teams. |
[Nero called it a] sad day ... It was an amicable separation and it's time for everybody to move on. |
[Santana] appeared to have good life on his fastball, he mixes in a changeup, and he has a good breaking ball. It seemed to me that they worked us outside the whole series. We need to make an adjustment there. |
A first for me, |
A lot of drama. Not for the faint of heart. |
Adam hardly gets to play and all he did was hit a home run and catch a shutout. He realizes he's not going to get to play much, but he prepares well. You've got to admire him for his stick-to-it. |
After that it was groundballs and double plays. |
All four of those are capable of hitting third, but that's a question that doesn't need to be answered right now. I'd like to get some balance in the lineup as far as right-left-right-left, and I'll do the best I can with that. We'll be able to put out a quality lineup every day. |
All have done it and all have been successful. With this depth, we should be able to put a quality lineup out there every day. |
All I can go on is what I saw in Spring Training, and he had a great spring. He's got Major League experience and he's a quality outfielder. |
