That was a tough way to open up the season ... all the hype and everything and playing in New England, which is about as tough a place as you can play, |
That's what Rich Gannon 's all about. After he got hurt, he was still in the meetings, he was there. His neck was hurting but he was still a part of it and really wanted us to be successful. That pretty much says it all about him. He's one of the smartest quarterbacks I've ever been around. ... I don't think there's anyone better than Rich Gannon . He showed that week in and week out the way he played, too. He was a tremendous competitor. |
The devastation in New Orleans is so sad and is a reminder of what is really important in life, ... My heart goes out to the countless people struggling with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. |
The guy has worked his butt off to get back to where he was, and he was just now getting back to being 100 percent. It's just disappointing because he's a heck of a player, and you hate to see good guys like that and good players get injured. |
The only good thing I can say is the that river was low going into today, |
The whole season has been disappointing, but I am proud of the way guys hung in there and fought. I know that guys came to play tonight and it was unfortunate that things didn't work out in our favor. |
Their ability to go deep is about as good as any two receivers you could put together in the league. T.O. looks like he's at the top of his game, Randy looks like he's at the top of his game. And you'll probably see two of the best receivers in football out there on Sunday. |
There was pressure, no doubt. The guys up front had their hands full and they did the best they could. The Patriots have an awesome defense. What hurt was all the penalties we had. You can't have those kinds of penalties or turnovers against a team like that. But hopefully, we can learn from our mistakes and straighten things out next week. |
There's no time to hang our heads low. We have another tough one next week. We have to get over this loss. |
These guys played their hearts out today and I'm proud of our guys. The bottom line to this whole thing is wins and losses and they made more plays than we did. |
They did more today than the first two teams (New England and Kansas City) did to take him away, |
They do a good job rushing the passer, ... It's one of the least talked-about parts of their defense. They mix fronts and give you a sound rush ... I wanted to get rid of the ball (on the interception), throw it away, but I got hit. |
They had some people on him, |
They had some people on him. I was certainly trying to go his way. They were putting two or three guys on him. |
They mixed up their front line a lot. We got behind the eight ball, especially in the third quarter. … It seemed like we played into their hands, but that's the type of defense they play, and they played it tonight. |
