It feels great. Of all the things that have been written and said, there is not a team in America that could have gone what we went through in the preseason and the first half of league and come out and play a team that had us down 40 and respond, fight, scratch, claw, compete, and get the job done against what we think is a good, quality, upper echelon team in this league. That's why it's the biggest win I've been a part of. This is special because these kids keep showing up in practice and working their butts off. |
It was difficult for us to get a stop, and we couldn't score any shots. ... We did not play well, but give Utah State all the credit. We had a bad game. |
It's a fun place to play, but the outcomes usually aren't so fun for opponents. |
It's a good team. They have a great bunch of guys as far as talent and athletic ability and they bring it to the floor every night. We have to compete, show up, give ourselves a chance. |
It's a young club. We're young and inexperienced. That's a bad combination for teams with our schedule and who were playing the rest of the year. The kids have hung in there. They're in great spirit. They're quite resilient. |
Our start was not as well as we have been starting games recently. We can't afford to start a game bad in terms of taking care of the ball, making easy shots, defending the basket and rebounding the basketball. |
People talk about his improvement, but he was good when he got there. He has a high basketball I.Q. I don't think there's a better guy in the country that finishes around the hoop. He's extremely valuable to (Utah State's) offense. |
The biggest thing is we are going to have to execute offensively. We've been doing a much better job of late of not going on very long starvation periods of not getting a basket. |
The kids are crying. They hurt. |
They are coming off a loss at home which is very, very, very rare. So I know those kids will be focused and really concentrated when they come in here. |
They don't have one or two match-up problems, there are three or four guys. |
We got stuck there (at eight points). We weren't playing bad. But they would answer the bell every time we'd make a play. It kept us at that deficit. It was hard to cut into it. But the kids stayed with it. They did to their credit. I'm proud of them. |
We missed some opportunities in the first half to close the gap, but I thought we played as well on the defensive end as we can play. |
We seem to be funk-enders this year. We didn't see a funk. We saw a good team. |
We were sluggish in the first half. And it really cost us. |
