I'm extremely pleased. We've still got to play and we haven't really seen the team together, but I like the way lines fit together. I like the way our combinations fit together. We just have to play now. |
I'm sure, but right now what we've got to do is focus on what we're doing well and what we can do to get better. We can't be concerned about what other teams are thinking, but I'm sure we were a target today. That's logical. |
I'm the person who has to find those answers and those solutions. We have some players who are not performing up to expectations. That's not acceptable. |
I've got enough problems doing what I'm doing. |
I've said all along that I'm pleased with the way the players responded to the overall situation of change and adversity that they had to overcome, no matter who was (coaching). I give them tremendous credit. |
I've said all along that the door has been open for Scott to make the decision that's right for him. We would have welcomed him back and wouldn't have thought twice about it. He didn't want it to be a distraction during training camp. |
I've seen him score a lot of goals in this building. |
If and when Scott Stevens does make the decision to play, we have Plan C to make room for him, ... It will be his choice. But there is a spot for him should he decide to play, whenever that might be. |
If there's any group of guys that deserve to have a comeback like that and get rewarded by finishing it, it was this group. They've stuck with everything and anything that was asked of them and kept their focus and never lost their concentration no matter what transpired. |
If we can get better, we will. |
It just takes adjusting. We have total confidence. . . . in Brad and Kenny (Klee). |
It starts with your forwards, then your defense and Marty. They're playing better in front of him, so he can see the puck better. He wasn't seeing the puck well. We were sort of scrambling all over. But our defensemen and our coverage have been very good. |
It sure is. When you play with certain players, you're comfortable. He has accepted anything asked of him. |
It was a combination of things, |
It was never a thought of who was going to be first, but whenever you did put that first one up there it should be an individual who was the prototype of the philosophy of what the organization stood for. All you had to do was watch him practice day in and day out and watch him compete and that was what you wanted to be the foundation for the players to follow by example. What he's done for this organization, it was only fitting with the timing that he would be the first. |
