I asked him if he would, without making a big deal about it, get me the names of some of the ones that may not get much mail. |
I sent boxes to him (Fitzwater) and asked him to distribute boxes as he saw fit. Soldiers would send a thank you note and often add another name. |
It's much closer to my heart since I personally went through the trauma of having a son that was being shot at everyday. And there's just a whole range of emotion with the pain of soldiers. They need to know we realize the sacrifices they are making and that what they are doing is going to change them. |
Sometimes you get a response, but a lot of the soldiers don't respond. I just think they are probably kind of busy. |
We just need to keep remembering these soldiers. Even the guys that are coming home safely, they are changed. You can't expect to be in a whole different country, in a different culture, and daily be shot at or be shooting at people without being changed. We need to make sure they know we care. |
