I think it was a dose of realism for everybody about where he is. You have to suddenly look at your game and say 'how do I get it to the next level and the level after that?' You have to be able to deal with those sort of failures to come out stronger and better. He took a good, long look at everything and that paid off in San Jose. |
It's difficult to say because it sounds like you're knocking the press but he likes being away from it all. He likes to be away at a tournament and not have to deal with too much of the other stuff. |
Look, he plays Davis Cup for Britain, but he's Scottish. He's Scottish first and British second, and there shouldn't be any misunderstanding about that. |
