For us to hold them to 53 points, we feel pretty good about. We've got to find a way to get two more buckets here or there, and we win a game like that. |
I look at the score, and I see 46 points and think we did a decent job defensively. Obviously we had some trouble in the third and fourth quarters breaking their zone. Our kids panicked. Our kids tried to make the extra play rather than make the extra pass. |
It is very surprising that our kids have been able to come together without Kevin. It is a tribute to all four seniors, but it also has to do with our kids' willingness to be coached and listen. Our team chemistry is excellent. The kids are doing whatever it takes to win. |
Obviously Ethan Whaley is a big part of our team, but at the same time we talk to our kids about stepping up in different roles and being aggressive. I wasn't overly impressed with our defensive attitude tonight. |
Our sectional is so balanced; I don't know if West Lafayette is the favorite. They obviously have a nice team and are well-coached. We are going to have to find a way to do some things differently than we did the first time around. We need to continue to finish strong. |
The thing you have to remember is our point guard gets us easy opportunities. A good point guard gets you into the right spots. We didn't have it tonight. A lot of the things we were creating were one-on-one. Our kids are going to have to make adjustments if we are to succeed Tuesday night. |
We have had to redefine some roles. At the same time we wanted to make sure they didn't to do anything special. Every time they touch the basketball they have to make sure to make the right decision. It puts more pressure on every possession. |
What we are talking to our kids about is there are little things that add up to close losses. It is a missed free throw, a missed rebound. These are the games we have to find a way to win if we are going to win in March. |
