Cupps was outstanding tonight, ... He got better each inning, his breaking ball got better. He reached down, dug deep and pitched a heck of game for us. |
Gator's been a big help to me over my 10 years here. It was an opportunity for me to come down to spring training and maybe help him out a little bit. At the same time, I thought it would be good for me. So here I am. |
He was, I think, more antsy than anyone in our clubhouse. He went back and forth. He was very anxious to pitch [Friday] and was hoping it would happen, because he's very prepared. |
He's probably still going to be in some discomfort during the game. |
How can I say this? I'm not sure I'm going to retire. That's all I can say. When I said that, I left off the rest of the story. |
I congratulate the Angels and their manager on the great job they've done. |
I didn't let it interfere with the way I did my job, ... I felt it (wore) a little bit on my thinking on the field. Basically that's why I made the decision. |
I have no problem with George, ... He's been very good to me. |
I just spoke to Moose, ... He's been doing his throwing out there, keeping tabs on what's going on. If there's a Game 5, he's the guy I'd want to be on the mound. |
I laughed when I saw it, |
I laughed when I saw it. My first thoughts were, 'What about Joe? Joe had done a hell of a job, too.' To congratulate the other manager and not congratulate your own after what he'd done this year, I laughed. |
I laughed, ... My first thought was 'What about Joe?' To congratulate the other team's manager and not Joe? |
I only know what was said, and that sort of thing, and I understand how they do things. I would assume it was probably pretty close. |
I really can't answer that one way or the other. |
I saw him today for the first time throwing BP. He's got great arm strength. He was a little erratic today command-wise. Obviously, he's got good stuff. I think he's going to be a great addition for them. |
