Age and Wisdom do not always run Hand in Hand. |
I think we need to focus on the basics, not the marquee names and causes. Just saying 'thank you' and 'please' is a good start; some simple ways of showing compassion and courtesy to each other. That's a good way to keep his dream alive because he wanted us to treat each other like brothers and sisters. |
In almost every quarter, Dr. King's message is under attack. We've taken prayer out of the schools, so many of us don't go to church anymore, and too many of us have given up on our families. That is not the state Dr. King had in mind as he fought for freedom. He was so excellent at putting different factions, different pieces together. The world is in dire need of another Martin Luther King Jr. now. |
On a personal note, my dad died the same year that Dr. King was killed. I was only eight years old at the time and I took both losses personally. What I took from Dr. King's life and message was dedication. He wanted us all to dedicate our lives to something. And I believe that you have to be dedicated to something in order to have a fulfilling life. |
We're not coping very well at all. The fact that it was during Christmastime is very hard. |
