As of now, we're going out there. Our field is fine. There's no reason to cancel it unless it starts to snow. We're taking a wait-and-see attitude. |
I have watched my mother . . . work her hands literally to the bone for her family and her community. If my mother has never given to herself, it is because she has always given to others. |
It doesn't matter who's on the other side of the field, you have to come out and play. Against Portland State (on Friday), I don't think we gave up, but I don't think we had the spark we had in the first game. I want to keep putting them out there in tough situations, and to know we can get back-to-back wins, it's a big step for us, right this second, and we're taking baby steps. |
It was a little bit cold, but we played well. Everybody's got to play in the same elements. |
She had a phenomenal weekend and I'm really excited to have her. She is the spark plug we needed. She competes and she just gets it done. |
She has athletics in her background. Her dad is harder on her than I could ever be. She has developed that killer instinct, but she's one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet. |
She was the spark plug. She played great defense too. |
The first game, we just did not play well, but we backed it up with a game and I am so excited. This team is talented, we just have got to keep pushing to get and stay over the hump. |
They needed more one-on-one time than I felt I could give them. With her, we'll see marked improvement in our pitching staff. That's a huge factor for us. |
This my first true senior class. We definitely have more versatility. We've got a good core leadership group, which is critical to a program and the success of the team. I feel confident with where we are. |
This will be a good test for us. The good news is it's everybody's first weekend out. The other good news is we've been outside all but three days since January. Last year, I think it was a huge factor that we hadn't been outside. We should be ready to go. The kids have worked extremely hard. I'm excited. What's another week going to do? Nothing. Let's go play. |
Those first two games we played awesome, we just didn't get the hits when we needed to. We finally made some adjustments at the plate. Everybody hit the ball well. |
We actually played very well against Stanford. I felt pretty good about that game. We had a couple of key errors, which, against Stanford, you can't have. The bottom line is we're learning, we're still getting better. Against Wisconsin it took us a while. Some of it is trying to recover from that loss and then going right back out on the field. |
We have struggled a little bit, but after getting beat two games in New Mexico we came back and won the third game, which to me is huge, we could have very easily laid down and lost three games. |
We just kept pushing, pushing, pushing and we got the runs we needed. They needed a little confidence after losing three games against Top 25 teams. |
