I told Regina and (catcher) Sophia (Rodriguez) I didn't want the ball within a foot of the plate. For some reason, the next pitch was right over the plate and it got ripped. |
If it works out, it works out. We had our chance to be first, but we let it get away. |
It wasn't anything that they did. We were getting steals and then giving it right back to them. |
It's just 32 minutes of constant pressure with them (Hampton). If you're not mentally focused enough to deal with that pressure, they're going to blow you out; I don't care who you are. |
Otherwise you put more pressure on the kids. It's added pressure that they don't need. You just look at it as an opportunity to go one step further, and then who knows. You've just got to take it game by game. |
Sloppy. But we're coming off of an emotional week. We were practicing later than normal coming into that game, but I just think that we got too complacent in the second half. If we do that in the semifinals we'll get killed. |
The first half was a slugfest. The play was overly physical and we got hammered. It's tough to shoot when you're getting hammered. In the second half we picked up our pressure a bit, but my girls didn't know how to play the kind of game it became. |
We still turned the ball over way too much. Some of that is to be expected because they just don't let you relax. Even if they just have seven players, those are seven really good players that could start for anybody. |
You're prepared for defensive pressure and being pressed, and that's a big part of the game. It's really two different styles of play, but our district prepares you well for the postseason. |
