I was pretty excited about it. Kyle put it up perfect. |
I'm going to miss Steve, there's no doubt about that. But with change comes opportunity for new players. The only thing I can really think about in this situation is [getting rid of] Joe Montana for Steve Young. Sometimes it works out for the better. |
I'm looking forward to catching some passes from Rex and just making the offense better and more balanced. Throughout the season, we've predominately been a run offense. I'd like to see us be more balanced so that when we go to the playoffs, we're not one-dimensional. |
If he can play that well in his first game as a rookie against one of the defenses that does more exotic things than any other defense, I believe that he's going to be all right. Most teams are not as exotic and have as many great athletes as the Redskins. |
If you want to criticize me and say I'm not good enough to do this or that, I guarantee you can't [criticize] any worse than I can. They're grabs that I make every day in practice and have made before in games. I look at plays and those are plays I should make. |
It took guts for Kyle to even try to throw that. I probably could have gotten him a little more separation to make the throw. |
It's the coach's call, so it has to be the right call. |
Kyle has played well. The coaches definitely have a decision to make about who they're going to start at that position, |
Personal stats mean nothing. I'm playing for Super Bowls. Anything short of that now is meaningless. |
Probably one of the things that I'm most proud of is that Steve is really maturing as a person. I think he's becoming a well-rounded person and I think that is more important than the athletic achievements. |
That's execution. You want to take it from the practice field to the game. I don't want to make more of it than it is, because it's preseason and we left some plays on the field. But that was a decent start for us, something we can build on. |
That's why we go through the preseason. When the regular season comes, he's going to make the right decision. |
The thing about the NFC is it's so competitive, ... There's not really a split in the competition between teams that are great and teams that are terrible. You can have a scenario like last year where 8-8 makes the playoffs. |

There's an ebb and flow to a season. He needs to know that everything won't always be roses. It's how you bounce back that determines how successful you are. |
