I saw the puck come out, and, as a D-man, you don't want the puck lying in the crease. I was just trying to clear it to the corner, get it away. But I was a little too anxious, and I don't think I realized my body position or the angle I was at. Instead of going into the corner, it went into the back of the net. |
I've played in most situations, and felt fairly comfortable. I know there are definitely things to work on and I'll do that this summer, and the rest of this year. |
It's great for us. When you come to the rink here on those days when you don't want to practice, the night before, you saw one of those guys playing for the big club and it gives you some motivation to get better every day. You know it's pretty close. |
It's unfortunate, but it was an honest mistake. I was anxious as a defensive player to clear the puck into the corner, so I just reacted to quick. It was on my mind to create a scoring chance or get an assist (to make up for the self goal) and I was just happy to get that first goal. |
Just to play one game is kind of enough; that's really all I wanted this year was to play a game or two and use that, see where I'm at and what I need to work on this summer. Then, I'll come into training camp next year with more confidence. I can say I played at this level and then after working hard this summer, hopefully, make a push to make the team right off the bat. |
Ryan Stone did a good job of getting the puck back up the boards. I just wanted to get the puck through the first wave of guys but got lucky when it hugged the post and went in. |
We lost the special teams battles. When you lose those you put yourself in a pretty good position to lose the game. We put ourselves behind the eight-ball early with the five-on-three. Five-on-five we had the upper hand, but they did a good job on the power play. |
You always want to play as much as you can, but three's enough. We've got a pretty tight race in Wilkes-Barre right now, and that's my team, so it would be nice to get back there and try to win a Calder Cup. |
