For all my seniors, we've been mainly focusing on how we are going into the sectional. Everybody has dropped time and that makes me feel good. |
For our relays, I was looking at the times they are swimming and comparing them to last year, and I think we can qualify all three relays. |
I admire the kids being able to take this kind of pressure. They work for four years and everything comes down to less than 30 seconds. In other sports, there's a losers' bracket or you can work back in a second half. At some point there's redemption. In swimming it comes down to one perfect race at the exact right time. |
I appreciate what those guys are doing out there. I don't know anything about diving because my background is in swimming. When I watch them, I'm not sure what they're doing. It's more than I can ever do. |
I can't expect 13 girls with nine freshmen to be able to go out there and hold their own. I also don't want to be discouraging. It's not that we can't accomplish good things, but we are in a league packed with swimming powerhouses. |
I hadn't really tapered them that much for the sectional as some of the girls and boys were saying they were still sore. So I'm going to really drop off and not practice much other than turns so we'll let them rest their muscles. |
I'm ecstatic over the two relays, especially the 200 free because that is our shot at state. It's seeded fourth, and 1:51.44 is not our best time. I'm very optimistic to finally qualify these girls to state in something. |
It's nothing short of miraculous. |
Oh, he's just trying to get an easier practice. |
That was our top relay. There's not much else I can say about that other than it was disappointing. |
We have good swimmers, but we go in down nine, eight or seven points before the meet even starts. That's difficult to make up. |
