We're ready to start the re-entry process, |
We're starting to bring New Orleans back culturally, we're starting to bring New Orleans back from our people standpoint, and we're starting to bring New Orleans back from the unique things that make New Orleans what it is. |
We're starting to make the kind of progress that I kind of expected earlier, |
What I care about is the plan. I don’t want anybody outside of New Orleans planning nothing as it relates to how we’re going to rebuild this city without us signing off on it, |
What I'm starting to realize is ... that Washington is very skeptical about helping us, |
What I'm starting to realize is ... that Washington is very skeptical about helping us, ... And it's very clear to me that if we don't start to help ourselves ... we're going to get left behind. |
What I'm trying to figure out is, should we bypass all the political stuff -- you know, these people jumping up and down every time we propose something -- and just go straight to the people, |
What is phase two? |
When I talked to the people in the Convention Center, I was getting a much different story, |
When we allowed people to cross the Crescent City Connection because people were dying in the convention center, that was a decision based upon people, ... Now, if they made a decision based upon assets, to protect assets over people, and to have attack dogs and armed people with machine guns, then they're going to have to live with that. |
Who's going to buy his tickets? I'm not buying one. ... I'm not listening to him on the radio. I'm not doing anything with him, ... I'm just appalled. |
With Hurricane Rita behind us, the task at hand is to bring New Orleans back. We want people to return and help us rebuild the city, |
Within the next week or two we should have about 180,000 people back in the city of New Orleans. |
Yeah, I don't know what to say, ... I got to go. |
You are entering the city of New Orleans at your own risk, |
