Edson is a good player and he showed today, scoring those two goals, that he's capable of scoring a lot of goals. It's too bad he's nursing an injury and cannot play to his potential. |
He (Rodriguez) did very well. He was very effective, especially in the beginning of the game. He did some good things, he almost had a goal. In the second half, he did exactly what I wanted him to do. He was good, overall. |
He [Cameron] was in the right place at the right time and he scored a nice goal. He is one of our best forwards and that is what he needs to do when he steps on the field. |
He didn't start today because he is just back from a long break. I think his performance was good. He had that chance to score a goal and Zach [Thornton] made a great save. Overall, I thought he had a good 25 minutes. |
He was dangerous even near the end of the game. He took the ball down the field to try to create something. He wasn't playing for a while and that might affect his play a little bit. The next game he is going to be even better. |
I decided not to play him. The chemistry was good. We won two games without him away from home. I didn't want to change. |
I didn't rest anybody, they are injured. I am putting the best players on the field every single time. If somebody is injured, and they are not 100 percent, then obviously they cannot be in the lineup. Chris (Henderson) was one of them. |
I guess I'm writing the history of being under .500 at home. That's not good for me or for the team obviously. I think everyone is disappointed, not only here in this room, but mainly in the locker room. What can I say? |
I think in the second half we started to play much better. We started switching the ball from one side to the other. We had some guys running to the ball. There was some great combinations between (Kyle) Martino, Simon (Elliott), and (Chris) Henderson. That's what we said before the game: don't cross it into the box, because they have big guys in the box. Just cross it in on the ground, and you never know what will happen. And basically, we were lucky to get that goal. |
It was difficult a week ago, it was difficult two weeks ago, and it was difficult three weeks ago. And now, it's even more difficult. We have to win the games. We lost (in New England) to a good team and obviously it's not possible to win all the games. Sometimes you lose and New England has a good team. I think they're a better team than we are. We lost the game on the field, it's not the end of the world. |
Just cross it in on the ground, and you never know what will happen. |
Obviously we had some momentum at the end of the game. When we scored that goal, I thought we were going to continue that push and maybe get another. |
Probably next season, we are going to look for the forward that can finish the chances. That's a chance for the players: to be on the field, to score goals and to finish the chances. And if you're not scoring the goals, what's the solution? You have to bring in somebody that will. |
The effort was there. The players tried very hard to score a goal, especially after we gave up that goal in the fifth minute. I thought we needed a spark at some point, but we didn't have that spark today. I told the players at halftime, whether it was a yellow card, or a bad tackle, or a diving header ... something that would wake them up even more. We are almost there, but obviously something was missing. Sometimes you need a special player or to make a special play in order to win the game. |
Three points always make you happy. |
