I expect this job to be something where I'm answering questions and trying to provide solutions for small-business owners. |
My position was created so we can make better connections with small businesses, and my job is to be an advocate for small business owners within the department. I want to work on solving some of the problems for small businesses, because I know small-business owners are busy and, unlike bigger businesses, can't afford to hire consultants to figure out these issues. |
Owners will see more information from L&I that makes sense to them. We're also be more willing to listen to comments, suggestions and problems and be more willing to act. |
Small businesses tend to be too small to hire consultants to help meet safety regulations. Sometimes small business owners are afraid of getting on Labor and Industries' radar screen. |
This is just the tip of the iceberg. We now have a greater tendency to help owners fix things instead of force compliance. |
