Bill and I have a rule. If a guy needs the sizzle, he's not for us. |
Bill's program is very demanding, very time-consuming, very energy-consuming. If a player has a lot of distractions in his personal life that manifest in their professional life, he is going to have difficulty succeeding in Bill's program. |
But when he's on the field he plays his ass off. |
I've seen every range of emotion. From being physically threatened when I was in Cleveland, to grown men crying in my office, to people completely understanding it and thanking me, and thanking us for the opportunity. It's the full spectrum. |
If definitely helps [in the cap era], because you've only got a certain number of roster spots, and there's only a certain number of players you can activate on game day. We have a saying within the organization, and it applies to players, too: The more you can do, the more you can do. If a player can do more, and a coach can do more, it's an organization plus. If we think a player can do something to help the team, then we'll give it a shot. |
They're giving the cover corners an even smaller window than they had before. Now the guys who play hard at the corner get flagged all the time. What players like Hayes and Lewis did so well, steering a receiver with their body, is one of the arts that is now lost. The great cover corner is absolutely rare and special. |
