Stand and offer your prayer, to the One who cannot be moved by force. |
Standing up and sitting down, I sing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. Meditating in remembrance on Him, I obtain my Eternal Husband Lord. |
Subduing egotism, the rigid doors are opened. |
Subduing my ego, I have enshrined the Lord within my mind. I focus my consciousness on the Guru's Feet forever. |
Subduing selfishness and conceit, he is united with the Lord. |
Subduing their desires, they merge with the True One; they see in their minds that everyone comes and goes in reincarnation. |
Sublime is their birth, and the place where they dwell. |
Such is my Lord, who is all-pervading everywhere. He dwells near at hand - the Lord is not far away. |
Suffering and doubt are cut out from within, and peace is obtained. |
Suffering and sorrow do not touch those who have the Support of the Name of the Lord. Grasping him by the arm, the Guru lifts them up and out, and carries them across to the other side. |
Sustainer of the world. Shower Your Mercy upon Nanak, that he may sing Your Glorious Praises; please, preserve my honor. |
Take pity on me, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek. I am a beggar, begging for the dust of the feet of the Holy. Servant Nanak begs for this gift, let me meditate on the Lord, forever and ever. |
Take the Provisions of the Lord's Name with you, and no stain shall attach itself to your family. |
Taking him by the hand, the Lord and Master merges into Himself that person, upon whose forehead such destiny is written. |
Taking hold of my hand, O Nanak, my Beloved God will not let me be swallowed up by the world-ocean. |
