All the way, I've tried to get him more fit. Racing is the biggest component of that. He was lightly raced going into the Derby. Now, he has the Dwyer and Jim Dandy under him. He's going into the Travers in top shape, and I like the idea of having four weeks between the Jim Dandy and Travers. |
As far as I'm concerned both of those horses are in a position where they could run in the Kentucky Derby if I'm satisfied with the way they're training, but neither one of them has to run. |
At the end of the (Wood), he was still only beat two lengths. Even though he tired, I've got some mixed emotions on whether going a mile and a quarter is what we should do. By the same token, I'm not able to identify why we should not necessarily go. |
Bluegrass Cat is a tremendous mover, very athletic. Both horses are pretty easy to train, pretty straightforward and obviously very talented horses. With Keyed Entry, we've tried to work to get him to relax a little bit and we're hoping that he can carry his speed a little way. |
Darn right I'd like to run him. I'd like to see him get his chance. |
Everything unfolded perfectly. We got exactly the trip we wanted to get. He punched when the time came. |
Everything unfolded the way we thought it would and the way we hoped it would. This was a home run. |
Everything unfolded the way we thought it would and the way we hoped it would. This was a home run. The Jim Dandy was the kind of performance that propelled Flower Alley to the next level. |
Flower Alley was just a little too fresh. It had nothing to do with the rabbit. Flower Alley was just too rank. |
He accomplished everything we hoped for except winning. |
He can run from off the pace if we need to do that, but maybe letting him be a free-running horse is his best style. We're certainly not going to try to take him off the pace. The most likely scenario is he's going to be on the lead, but if somebody else wants the lead then that's fine, too. |
He gets on six or seven horses a day and joked about a comeback. He asked to ride this one, and I have total confidence in him. |
He had a torn muscle in his left-hind leg, ... We did an internal blister on him and gave him some down time to get that straightened away. We were originally thinking about bringing him back in the (Alfred G.) Vanderbilt (gr. II, Aug. 13 at Saratoga), but we just ran out of time. He's worked well up to the Forego. We just hope he shows up and runs his 'A' race. |
He has a forward style. He might not be on the lead, but he'll be close to the pace. |
He lost a lot of ground. I thought he ran a big race. |
