As Marilyn noticed on her tour, the medical center has just outgrown its space. The new site will allow room for the enhancement of existing services and the addition of others. |
For years healthcare has been moving away from the inpatient care trends that our current facility was designed around. Outpatient services at SCMC (e.g. physical therapy, outpatient surgery, CT scans) have increased 33 percent over the past five years. The new facility's floor plan is arranged to accommodate this continuing shift in services. |
The new location will also enhance access to care in emergency situations. Parking will no longer be a problem, and with three different entrances, patients will be able to park near the department that they need to visit and walk right into that area. |
With the current facility being over 50 years old, maintenance needs would have become an overwhelming financial burden in the future. In addition, the medical center has outgrown its space. The new building will allow room for the enhancement of existing services and the addition of others. |
