As I watched, it seemed like we were close in the matches, yet all lost 6-0, 6-0. They don't know how how to win two or three points in a row. All six of them have never played before, but I was shocked they all lost 0 and 0. |
He has our best record in league this year and he's playing within himself. He's not trying to over-hit and he's being consistent. At this level, consistency wins matches. He's just playing better tennis. |
He played better and overall he looked a lot better than he did against Forest Grove. He was impatient and looked nervous (against Forest Grove), but in this match he had better footwork and was relaxed. |
He played pretty well. He looked more relaxed. I moved him from second singles to see if he could get a win, and he did. That was a good win for him to get under his belt. |
He was down 5-2 in the third set and came back and won. He really did a good job coming back. He's had trouble closing matches this year. He was up 5-1 in the third set earlier in the year and lost and he was up earlier this week and lost in the third set. I think he's learning how to close matches now -- hopefully. |
He was down in each set and came back to win. (Wallace) was tough, but Velarde hung in there. The thing about Velarde is he doesn't beat himself and if you don't beat yourself, you've got a great shot to win. |
He was up 4-1 in the third set, but he got tentative and didn't finish. He didn't close out and got tight and started thinking about the score instead of the moment. |
I give (Forest Grove) credit -- they are improved and they have done a great job with their summer program. We've never lost to them until (Thursday) and they showed improvement and how important playing in the summer is. I thought we would be a little more competitive. |
It shouldn't have had to come down to a (scoring) run. We're not a team, and that's why we can't score points. They don't work as a team. Until they decide they want to play as a unit... |
It was a good effort. I was really happy with how he came back after being down 4-1 in the second set, coming back to force a tie-breaker. He definitely played well enough to win it. |
That is there first win of the year -- they were excited. They felt good and they played pretty well and dominated the two sets they won. |
The guy he played was very consistent. Miguel either hit a winner or made a mistake -- and he made more mistakes than winners. Miguel was forcing the issue, he just had too many mistakes. |
They tightened up and they choked. The other team played pretty relaxed and our guys were scared of losing. |
They were up 5-4 and 40-30, but they didn't get it. I probably will switch them up, too. They've had a couple chances, but couldn't quite do it. |
Three of the teams have never played tennis before in their lives. I think we're going to get better cause they're pretty good athletes. Put a basketball in their hands and they'll do great. It's going to get better, though. |
