make Pedro look like a choirboy. |
Maybe I should have handled that differently. I don't know. I'm hoping a lot of the things I did now will help us in the future. |
My dad wasn't a big baseball guy. |
My job is to get this team to produce and get to the next level. |
No matter how bleak things look, in this clubhouse we're going to stay positive and keep playing. Things can change around. |
No reason to change what's working. We've been playing well. I wanted to leave Miguel in there. |
No, he's going to be in the mix, but I can't say right now he's going to be in the rotation. No one's got a guarantee coming into spring training. I don't believe in that. |
No, no. You've got to do it on the field. |
No, not necessarily. You might look at our rotation and say he's pretty much in there, but I'm never going to say that because you don't know. We have three or four guys in the back of the depth chart that might step up and knock my socks off. He has to compete. |
No. I'm sure he pretty much knew what he was getting into. Who knows, he might go out and have a great year this year. |
Not all guys deal with injuries the same way. Some guys can play with injuries, some guys can't. I'm not saying he can't. But hamstrings are a different kind of injury. Like I've said before, hamstrings are a funny kind of injury. |
Nothing really official. But, we have plans in case it doesn't work out that way. |
Now the facilities aren't there. Just worn-out lots. You need 18 guys and 18 gloves, some bats and balls to play. Basketball you need a ball and five other guys. You probably have the sneakers already. |
Obviously bringing in Wagner, a legitimate closer who makes you feel real good at the end of the game when you give him the ball, all of that stuff is really comforting for most managers. |
Obviously, if you play games like that with the fans, they can come down harder on you. We all have choices to make and reactions to different things. |
