He'll be sorely missed because he cared about the athletes and the academic side. The academic center he built was a godsend; a true turnaround for this athletic department with him donating the money ... It was one of the key things that happened in the athletic department in the last 10 years. |
He's a nightmare for anybody. Very seldom are you going to find a guy who can defend a guy like him - off the dribble with lateral quickness - and do an effective job when he goes inside. It becomes a little bit of a problem trying to guard a guy like that who has so many dimensions to his game. |
He's a player now that is a lot more determined to be good in all areas of the ice. He really wants to be part of the big team picture and be counted on in important situations, not just the flashy offense. He wants the nod in the key situations where he thinks now that he can make a difference. |
He's a pretty calm guy, and he doesn't let the occasion get to him. I thought he played the spin superbly, and that bodes well for where we are going at the beginning of next season. (South Africa tour Sri Lanka later this year.) Hopefully, from here, he'll build on that and make it even better. |
He's a throwback pitcher from the day. The game's changed quite a bit since then, but I can still learn. If you think you know everything that's when you'll be sadly mistaken. If I can take some input that he has and apply it towards what I'm doing out there and use it, then that's a good thing. |
He's amazing. All he does is work. He loves it, loves practice, loves the weight room, loves to hit people. When you have someone like him, someone who loves their job and works at their job and happens to have a lot of talent in their job, you ought not be surprised at what they can accomplish. |

He's done OK. But the expectations were really high after the second half and what he did last year. He hasn't lived up to that. Scouts are up there and people see things. He hasn't been able to make the adjustments as quickly as a couple of guys. That's something he'll have to do to get better. |
He's feeling better. He's had a week off and he's been in a (walking) boot for a week. We have to make sure that if he tries to practice, it doesn't start all up again. We want to make sure he's healthy, which obviously puts us in a difficult situation. But we have to do what's best for the kid. |
He's good enough. And we haven't asked him to move the ball around. We've just asked him to knock it down there and done a pretty good job with what we've asked him to do. Right now, he's pressing a little bit. But everyone's seen him hit the ball a country mile, so that's not a concern of mine. |
He's got the right to speak his mind. He's got the right to say what he's got to say. We're coming off a 4-12 season and from a personnel standpoint there hasn't been a big change. Obviously it's caused some concern on his part what we have done. But no one has felt he was taking it out on them. |
He's just about everything that you want. He's 6-foot-7 and has tremendous body control. He has three present pitches and a tremendous feel for pitching. He's aggressive and isn't afraid of contact. Young pitchers have a tendency to want to strike everyone out, but he just wants to get them out. |
He's just speaking his mind, and that's true, a lot of it is mental. Coming back from this is going to be a lot more mental than physical. But what I was throwing with was not mental. It was pain. When the pain goes out, I just have to get it in my head that I am well and I am ready to go again. |
He's one of my best friends, if not the best. There is never going to be a night when both of us aren't playing good. If he's not playing good, I try to help him out, and I know he has my back. I know there were a couple of nights where I didn't do anything, and he had about 28 (points), I know. |
He's plenty strong -- when he gets them, he gets them. He's a guy that's hitting the ball hard in the gap, and unless it gets elevated a little bit, he's going to hit a lot of doubles. I really don't see where that's a problem. He's so effective doing it that he doesn't need to do anything else. |
