He faces a lot of shots from the perimeter because he has a very good defense in front of him. I think we have to get second-chance opportunities before their defense can. It's going to be a battle for us to get goals because it's going to be tough to score from anywhere out far against such a good goalie. |
He got interested, was on the ball and took part in every opportunity to go on a field trip. He's been so very helpful to our group, involved in ongoing activities and monthly programs, setting up slides projectors or lugging around materials. He enjoys working behind the scenes, helping in any way he can. |
He had a tough game on Saturday, but he'll bounce back from it. My thoughts about Charlie really haven't changed. I knew there was going to be a tough game at some point along the line. This team posed a lot of issues for him, and how he recovers from that will be a big indicator of what his abilities are. |
He has a chance to be a very good everyday player. He has great makeup and great plate discipline. He'll probably start this year at Triple-A. He's in the mix, [ability-wise], with [Dodgers prospects] Andy LaRoche, Russell Martin, Chad Billingsley, Matt Kemp and Joel Guzman. His upside should be very good. |
He has been doing extremely well with this [rehab] program with his shoulder, and is throwing. We're going to continue to allow our medical people to finish the job with that. But in the meantime he's completely available to hit. We're going to DH him when we have a chance to do so to get him some at-bats. |
He has had some good at-bats and has had a flair for the big hit here recently. We saw that from him in spring training. Anyone who has seen him play realizes he has a lot of energy. He's working on focusing that energy into the important aspects of his game. He has an ability that you don't see every day. |
He has made amazing progress with our microprocessor business, making it the envy of our industry. His leadership, operational skills and business acumen have positioned the company for long-term, sustainable growth, and I'm very pleased that AMD now will benefit from those skills on an even grander scale. |
He is absolutely the ideal teammate. He is the most involved on the bench, and he is just really into the game. In practice he just works his butt off. I don't care if you ask him to be on the scout team, he's a very positive guy. They don't come any better as far as a young man and his commitment to team. |

He just treats people like people instead of treating them like players. If a guy has a bad day, he doesn't treat them any differently than if they had a great day, and that makes everybody feel comfortable. They can all go out and play, and not worry about their manager changing his disposition every day. |
He made me a lot better actually, having someone to go through this whole thing with you is a lot better than going through it by yourself. You can't really slack because I know he's going to be working and I'm going to be working, so basically it helped me raise my game so I can compete at the next level. |
He might be getting a little frustrated. I think any player that gets in foul trouble consistently might be a little frustrated. There's a number of reasons, but probably number one, he's not on the court as much as he wants to be. That all goes back to playing him tough on the offensive end and attacking. |
He puts an honest day's work in every day. He made a lot of mistakes mentally [last season] because he was young, just getting in the wrong coverage and things like that. Everything was so fast for him last year, going from two-a-days to start playing, that now he can prepare and not make as many mistakes. |
He said that I'm such a big guy, my injury could relapse if I put weight on it and try to be active, ... The doctor said I can't run for four to five weeks after I heal. It will take two weeks to recover (from the pins being removed), but I can walk after that. It'll be four to five weeks before I can run. |
He was a freshman and he was feeling his way. As the season progressed, you could see him getting better and better. He's more mature now. He's more confident now. He's doing a great job now on his route running. You can see that he has a year under his belt. He is having an excellent spring. He really is. |
