I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples; / And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak. |
I saw 'Fro.' The puck got dumped in, so I just said, 'Oh, I'm just going to go to the front of the net,' and all of a sudden he had it, ... I don't know if there was anybody around me or not. I just know he put a great pass on me. He just threw it on my stick and it was in the net. It was a pretty good feeling. |
I still feel like the kids in our program could get a whole lot better and could improve. And I think another year in college for those guys, or two, would prove to be valuable to them, rather than someone taking a chance or an opportunity, and those guys sitting on the bench and not having a chance to develop. |
I still see lots of things we can fine-tune. I think we're slowly but surely getting a little bit tighter and executing better. It sounds funny, when you're 11-and-0, but we've played some bad stretches of basketball and still been able to overcome that. Our goal is to eliminate that and become more consistent. |
I think as a coach the ultimate goal obviously is to be a head coach. And you do have to look at the opportunities, where you fit. Does that place in particular fit you? I'll go through the process this week and then again at the same time not lose my focus on what the ultimate goal is, and that's the playoffs. |
I think from the point where Jason was 1-4 to this point, I've never seen anybody — Mark Prior, Jered Weaver, you name it — have the numbers he has, ... They are mind-boggling. The only thing I was worried about was whether we would go to the well too many times with a thin pitching staff and wear him down. |
I think he got a couple hits against us. He almost hit a couple out of the ballpark. I was like, 'You [aren't] supposed to use it against us. Wait until the next series.' But now I have a whole gang of bats for him. He can use it a game today, tomorrow, whenever, as long as he keeps getting doubles and triples. |
I think he was the greatest sportscaster who ever lived. I try to put it into words, and I don't know how this even sounds, but I liked myself when I worked with Bill. He was one of the last of the colorful characters, a one-in-a-million kind of character. There's no chance there will ever be anybody like Bill. |
I think if we were able to play more than one ball in a row, it could have turned out differently in a game or two. Serving was a problem for us. And, for my experience, the teams that serve really well come out on top. All of the games we've won this year, we've served really well. We have a lot of work to do. |
I think it speaks of the high quality of kids we have in the Valley. We have the talent here in the Valley, and to see a coach like Ricky Vaughn try to keep it here means a lot. I've never seen the numbers like he has now. And the thing is, nationally they're competitive. They can compete with the best of them. |
I think it was the type of first game we wanted to have. We controlled the puck the way we wanted to. Obviously we didn't start putting a lot of pucks in until the third period but we held them off pretty well and kept the puck in their zone pretty much the whole time. I don't think we were ever really worried. |
I think it will be great for baseball. I think he's the greatest hitter ever.... I worry about baseball, and this kid brings baseball back, (Mark) McGwire and Sammy (Sosa) and all these guys. People hated baseball then, after the strike. A lot of people will be mad when he breaks the record, but I hope he does. |
I think it will be successful initially because it's new and different. But long-term, I don't think the business has a great chance of succeeding in its current incarnation -- not from a design point of view but from a merchandising point of view. I don't know that the merchandise outperformed the competition. |

I think it's a Canadian thing. I've heard horror stories about the States, where it's very much like everyone's talking numbers and you don't mingle with the competition. I think that's absolutely crazy. I mean, we talk about our numbers, but I would never let work interfere with whom I want to be friends with. |
