It is not rejection itself that people fear, it is the possible consequences of rejection. Preparing to accept those consequences and viewing rejection as a learning experience that will bring you closer to success, will not only help you to conquer the fear of rejection, but help you to appreciate rejection itself. |

It is strange the way it worked out, you know, that my dad was able to be there to see it. But as soon as I got to the locker room, I had to call my mom and the rest of my family because it isn't every day you hit a big shot to win a game and they don't know about it. That part of it was definitely a little strange. |
It is unfortunate that members of the Duke community, players and families are being judged before all the facts are in. A lot of innocent young people and the families are being hurt, and unfortunately this situation is being abused by people with separate agendas. It is grossly unfair, and cool heads must prevail. |
It is very difficult to win a championship, and you need a lot of things around you to have the chance. Last year, I started the season dreaming of, maybe, winning one race and getting regular podiums, but we won the title. In 2006, I know we have a competitive car in the R26, so my only goal is to repeat the title. |
It is what it is and there's nothing to do but roll with it. We planned it way in advance and it was a wedding for my sister. We would have liked not to be paying prices like this -- but, it was for family. . . . We decided to travel anyway [after gas prices soared] because we had already made plans and commitments. |
It kind of tells you the character of the team. Just how close we are. When stuff like that happens, you can go two ways. It can distract you and pull you apart, or you (can) stick together. The coaches have done a good job of trying to not let us worry about what else is going on. But just stay close to the family. |
It puts things in focus. The team quarrels that people have don't really matter, ... You have to put those things to the side and know that we are all we have right now. We're going to be seeing each other every day for a real long time. We always talk about family and being a family -- this is our family right now. |
It really hasn't been much different except I haven't had any staff meetings, and I haven't had to make any decisions. But as far as everything else is concerned, I've been just as busy as I've ever been. I've probably done as many things as I've ever done, if not more, because I don't have enough excuses to say no. |
It really starts from the top, that is just the message we've been given. The veteran guys on our team would just sort of repeat the message from above, and we'd just try to live it out. Everyone is saying the goals of this team are more important. If you've really got chemistry and camaraderie, those things happen. |
It seemed like a fun thing to do, and it's become one of the highlights of the set. People just don't want to let it go. I don't think we realized how much resonance it had in this country. We thought it was more of a European thing. But it seems to be one of the things that connects very deeply with audiences here. |
It seems like about 15 years ago. The last couple years have been kind of rough. It's all behind me now. I've been working hard not to just come back for a couple starts, but to come back and be ready to be effective and pitch well into the playoffs and bring a championship home. I'm looking forward to getting back. |
It seems to me to be a way to give the Clinton Administration an opportunity to sidestep the issue of whether to announce they're going to withdraw from the ABM treaty, or whether they're going to go ahead and proceed with construction and be hopeful the Russians are not going to accuse them of violating the treaty. |
It took a little longer than we had hoped because we had to find the right community members and have something meaningful to present to them. I think we finally have just about all the players in place. I don't know if we'll pull it off by the end of February, but I certainly expect we'll have it together by March. |
It turns out that she's just not a horse that travels. I've only shipped her twice, once up to Bay Meadows for a little allowance race where she ran terrible and then to New York, where she didn't run at all. Of course, that was a tough spot but that wasn't the main problem. She just has to run where she's training. |
