I guess the sentiment picture that we've had in the last couple of weeks has been sufficiently negative to more or less push everyone to the sidelines. There's not a lot of volume in the markets. People are really sitting on their hands waiting to see what's going to happen tomorrow and Wednesday when the FOMC meets. |
I had a guess what it might be about, but this took me completely by surprise. And he delivers a play, as he puts it, before he truly knows what it's about. He wants a conversation about what it is that appears to be working, and where it is he appears to be going. Until he's got to that point, nobody knows about it. |
I had a little talk with my little man last night. I told him it was bad timing. I was rolling in the first half, we were winning. We're finally winning at halftime and I got the call. I never hesitated. I had to go. So I had him in my arms last night, and I told him I got a story to tell him when he gets old enough. |
I had no money, ... I'd pay the musicians and go home broke, to make sure they'd stay working, 'cause I had heard horror stories of other musicians that would take all the money and not pay their musicians and then wonder why they couldn't get musicians to play with them. I wasn't gonna become one of those musicians. |
I have no idea why Mark would have done that. I was as shocked as anybody in the stadium. How do you explain that? I don't know. That goes back to Pop Warner football. Mark should have made a better decision. I'm not going to sit here and go any further in front of the whole media, but it's as bad a play as there is. |
I have to give that to lack of knowledge of the golf course. For some reason, I think that right side that you can get to that far bunker out there. I'm not long enough to get to that bunker. I tried to take a little more off than I can chew. I thought it was going to fly into the bunker and it didn't even get close. |
I have two main reasons for retiring here today. The first one is I can no longer play at the level that I was accustomed to in the past and that has been, very, very frustrating to me throughout this past year. The second one is realizing that my health, along with my family is the most important thing in the world. |
I hope Rollins goes as long as he can; it's good for the game. I've got no problem with (him surpassing Molitor). But it's been nice that no one's reached that number (39) since 1987, which is a pretty long time. Eventually someone's going to pass it, and this guy seems like he's on track to do it, so I hope he does. |
I knew Hammer liked 4 and we had a couple of discussions and it meant something to him so I ended up switching, ... I've got a lot of respect for the guy. He's played a lot of years and been a good player and a great pick up for us so I thought I'd welcome him here. If it makes him play better, I guess it's worth it. |
I look back at a couple of games we lost that we shouldn't have lost that could have made a difference. But this is the reality. There have been a myriad of things that have led to our record. I take my share of the blame. We've had a lot of penalties and inconsistent execution on offense that has led to this record. |
I must have done something right because they gave me a grant to the Royal Scottish Academy Of Music And Drama in 1983. But I hated all that stuff they taught me while thumping out the rawness and energy I had. I went off and formed a small experimental, often political, theatre company called Rain Dog to unlearn it. |

I really like the way we finished the meet. We had an extremely young team, and it is nice to finish strong. It is a good sign for our future. We have some good young talent. Our seniors did a wonderful job of leading and teaching this year. I am proud of the team. We are close enough to be competitive in the future. |
I really think, in the end, it probably doesn't matter for the Fed. They have made it clear that they want to be preemptive. They want to take action before signs of inflation are apparent so they can get ahead of the curve, and (that way) they have to do less in terms of raising interest rates instead of doing more. |
I really used that season as a learning experience. I tried to stay as sharp as I could physically by taking extra batting practice. It was a really big year mentally, though. I was able to watch major-leaguers play up close and ask a lot of questions. It really prepared me to eventually play at the big-league level. |
