Hatred would be a strong word, ... We really respected each other. A lot of people didn't realize that the Lakers and the Celtics had the utmost respect for one another and probably feared each other the most. We knew we were equally talented and we knew that we balanced each other out on the floor, and there had to be an edge. |
He fought so hard for that hospital and he saw his efforts realized on Thursday with Senator John Flanagan and he knew about it. He had worked very hard for that. I'm glad he knew his efforts came forward [but] he never saw retirement, which I feel really bad about. People work so hard and they never see the rewards at the end. |
He is a dangerous quarterback. As a defensive back, you have to be aware he's going to try and run you over or sit back there and beat you on the pass. He was recruited by everyone in the country. He didn't receive all those accolades and honors for nothing. He's put up some good numbers. He's starting to run this offense well. |
He is so efficient. He seems to be playing smarter, more confidently. I think they have given him more responsibility. He's very, very accurate and doesn't make many mistakes. The statistics show he has three interceptions, but in reality it's only one. The others were deflected passes by receivers who should have caught balls. |
He looks to me to be a guy that really is taking the team and wants a prolonged run. He's a heck of a hockey player. What a benefit to have when you're trying to protect the lead; just the smarts, the composure, the hands, the passing, the physical play and the decision-making. He's been incredible for the last number of weeks. |
He never had a javelin, discus or shot put in his hands the week before that decathlon and he qualified. He had great hurdles, a great 400, great 1500 -- stuff where he's good. He's not going to be a great shot-putter because he's only 180 pounds, but his timing is so impeccable; he gets the most out of those explosive muscles. |
He played a heavy dose of minutes (30) at George Mason but he was a step and a half (slow) and really had a hard time. He felt bad about it, but that was his pride as being a competitor. We'll manage it as the season goes along, but it certainly will inhibit his rhythm a little bit and our ability to blend him in with the team. |
He relates to players really well. Other coaches give you reps, but he breaks down your swing, the pivot, everything step by step. My swing has changed a lot. I'm looking for certain pitches in specific situations. I never did that. I used to see the ball, hit the ball. Now, I'm driving my back hip. I have more power than ever. |
He said: Do you know how you treated Yusuf and his brother when you were ignorant? / They said: Are you indeed Yusuf? He said: I am Yusuf and this is my brother; Allah has indeed been gracious to us; surely he who guards (against evil) and is patient (is rewarded) for surely Allah does not waste the reward of those who do good. |
He said: Then what is the state of the former generations? / He said: The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a book, my Lord errs not, nor does He forget; / Who made the earth for you an expanse and made for you therein paths and sent down water from the cloud; then thereby We have brought forth many species of various herbs. |
He still has that brilliant speed. He was tugging me to the lead. I had a ton of horse down the backside and everything was fine until the turn. When he switched leads, the track came away from him. He was slipping on the turn, and that's when the other horse got the jump on him. Normally on the turn is where he puts them away. |
He was trying to stick the landing, and that's what you want. He had just watched two teammates in front of him stick their landings, and he was going for it. He's a competitor, and he's been in this position before. What I'm most pleased is the way the team improved from district to this meet, and hopefully that will continue. |
He was very generous to me. It was extremely beneficial because you can always learn some things that are not on the page or not expressed - things that he might say, or things that he might not say. It all sits in your subconscious and affects the character in the end. So being able to meet with him was very, very interesting. |
He wasn't flashy, kind of a quiet guy, but with a deep, deep resolve. He had the heart of a champion, with all the things you think a great athlete should be. … He was just the best. If there is a prototype for the Michigan man, I can't imagine anyone being more than that than Eric Namesnik. He will be missed for a long time. |
He's been playing great all year. He certainly deserved to be in the All-Star Game. He should've been there, but he didn't get a chance to go. He's certainly been one of our best players all year. I think he's proven the last few years that he's one of the best defensemen in the league and he certainly deserved to go this year. |
